2nd Meeting in Italy

11th – 15th October 2021

The second meeting of the "The Da Vinci Code" project, under the Erasmus + program, "School Sharing Partnerships" was held from October 11-15th 2021 in Urbino, Italy.
The meeting titled “How to Make Simple Mechanisms And Devices” was attended by teachers and students from partner schools from Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria and Serbia in person, while the teachers and students from Romania attended the activities online, due to Covid19 travel restrictions. Sadly, the Latvian team withdrew from the project and therefore did not take part in this activity.

DAY 1

On the first day, the project participants were welcomed by the host teachers and students in ITIS E. Mattei Urbino. The participants were firstly introduced to the Covid rules in the school. After that the student participants were introduced to each other via some icebraker games. The online participants also took part in this activity. As soon as the coffee break finished, the hosts took the participants on a tour of the school. The participants could see the classrooms and   modern education equipment available at the host school. After lunch time, each country held their presentations about their country, town, school, invention and inventor. Four countries presented in person, while the Romanian team presented online. The rest of the day was spent in an informal sightseeing tour of the town.
 
DAY 2

The second day was devoted to vocational lessons. Due to the changing covid-19 measures it was decided to be held online. The first lesson was held by the Italian team and the topic was Standards and measures. The topic of the second lesson was about robots and it was held by Portuguese students. After the lunchtime, the participants were officially welcomed to Urbino by the president of municipality, Collegio Raffaello. The afternoon hours were spent in a host student guided tour of the town, in two groups. The visited sights included Fortress, Raffaello street and house, Oratorio San Giovanni and the Ducal Palace. Teacher Francesco Serafini introduced to us the mechanisms and other items from the palace via QR code in 3D format, which was very attractive to both students and teachers.


DAY 3

The third day focused on a local excursion trip. The first sight to visit was Gradara. Legend has it that the castle was the scene of the famous and tragic love story of Paolo and Francesca, immortalized by Dante in his Divine Comedy. The visited sights include the typical medieval fortress and Fiorenzuola di Focara, a small village famous for its alleys and tiny squares. In the afternoon hours the group visited Pesaro, the town rich in Roman archaeological finds, medieval walls and splendid Renaissance palaces. The visited sights are Teatro Rossini, Palazzo Ducale, The Sonosfera (an unique example of auditive museum), Villino Ruggeri and the sculpture Sfera Grande made by Arnaldo Pomodoro. In the late afternoon hours the students and teachers had a short relaxing walk by the seaside and returned to Urbino in the evening hours.
 
DAY 4

The morning working hours of the fourth day, were spent in the workshop for simple mechanisms in the school laboratory. The lecture and workshop was held by the local teacher, Alessandroni Giacomo. During this session the meeting of the project team was held. The team agreed that the next meeting was to be held in Portugal and the last in Serbia, since the Latvian team had left the project. Some other decisions related to the project activities, student work on two interdisciplinary lessons and five project-based training projects and dissemination were made as well. The afternoon working hours were again spent in the laboratory where the students worked on the Arduino system. The students practised how to connect all the components and raise the parking gate bar. The evening hours were spent in the local restaurant where the project participants could enjoy the Italian cuisine, chatting to each other


DAY 5

On the last day of this mobility the project participants celebrated the Erazmus day. Each of the partner teams prepared a presentation about their experiences in Erazmus+ projects. Italian and Portuguese presented their reach experience in the school, the Bulgarian team did the same online, while the Serbian team presented their modest experience, talking about the significance of Erazmus+ for them. Each participant received after the presentations their certificate of attendance, as well as the gifts prepared by the hosts.
